Story Profile

Carmen is a determined, bright, and energetic young lady. A social butterfly, she has a broad range of diverse friends. Carmen loves her school, does well there, and wants to stay connected with classmates after her move to an adoptive home. She enjoys doing arts and crafts, wearing pretty dresses, and has a major sweet tooth.

Carmen hopes for a family that has other children and pets. She would like to have a cat and a dog. Like most girls her age, Carmen would appreciate helping to care for a baby. Mostly, Carmen expresses a desire for parents "who love me" and "are nice," and a home where she knows the rules and can quickly adjust.

Carmen’s team will consider parents who are mellow, experienced in parenting children who've had a tough start in life, and able to work with a committed team of professionals to help her reach her full potential. Carmen needs parents who can help her maintain connections with her siblings and other people who are important to her.

Carmen’s sister, Yashira, is also featured on the Heart Gallery of Alaska. The girls’ team will consider placing them together, with the right family.

Each Heart Gallery of Alaska profile is a strengths-based portrait and is not intended to provide details needed to make adoption placement decisions. Additional child-specific information may be provided to families who have completed licensing and training requirements.
